At last!
So, initially I decided that I was going to launch this website as a semi-professional blog for those in the music industry, specifically music editing, and music supervision, but I just wasn’t motivated to talk about it, and as such the domain was gathering dust.
I’ve decided to go back to what I enjoy writing about the most, and that is, things that are happening in my life. Narcissistic perhaps, but if it gets me writing, then it’s all for the better. This will include all the music supervision activities that happen, as well as my travels, photography, bikes etc. All the things I love.
Despite the recent attacks in Mumbai, and the warnings from the government, in 4 days I’m heading back to India. This will be my 4th time there. I really feel an affinity to the place. The town I’m going to specifically is Mandrem, apparently mentioned in the Good Weekend by none other than the arbiters of good taste, Brangelina. This annoys me. This was my patch of heaven. My oasis away from EVERYTHING, and now Brad and Anj have to go and fuck it up…
Anyway, I thought I’d write a list of things I’m going to take, and those of which I’m not.
What I’m taking:
- Canon 5D Mark II
- 70 - 200L
- 50mm prime 1.4
- 24 - 105L
- EX 580 II flash
- 2x 16GB cards.
- iPod with etymotics.
- Presents for the locals. Little knickknacks go a very long way.
What I’m not taking:
- Laptop - too heavy. Learnt my lesson last time with this.
- Phone - people are surprised by this, but I don’t see why. I don’t want to be contacted while I’m holiday, pure and simple. I’ll be checking my email every couple of days, but I love the freedom of ‘getting lost’ for a few weeks.
- Credit Card. I forgot my number last time I was there, and the pain of getting a new code from Australia was PAINFUL. Travellers cheques ftw.
- CDs for DJing. I ALWAYS end up losing 30% of my holiday doing gigs in India. This time I just want to take photos and sit & talk with friends.
I’ll update this blog as much as I can, otherwise you can check out my twitter, add me as a friend, and I’ll be updating my flickr account as soon as I get back. They’re still using windows 95 on most of the machines where i’ll be, therefore I doubt they’re going to have 5D Mark II drivers.
3 more sleeps!!
